In order to submit a locate request using
this program you must provide a valid e-mail address. This
address will be used by O.U.P.S. to return vital information
to you, including the confirmation that your locate request
was successfully processed and completed.
Please note
that the area to be located must be accessible (free of
locked gates and animals) for a period of 48 hours (2 full
working days not including weekends and legal holidays) from
the time that you receive your confirmation e-mail. Ohio law
requires that the excavator observe the tolerance zone
during excavation: An area equal to the width of the
underground facility + (plus) 18 inches on each side. If no
width is given by the utility, assume 2
inches.
Submitted requests will be processed by
O.U.P.S. prior to the start of the next working day. The
date and time that you are legally allowed to begin your
excavation will be 48 hours (2 full working days not
including weekends and legal holidays) from the time that
O.U.P.S. processes your locate request but no more than 10
working days after receipt of confirmation. This legal start
date and time will be included as part of your confirmation.
If you begin your excavation prior to that time, you may be
subject to liability for damaged underground
facilities.
If you are unable to meet these
requirements, please exit this program and dial 811 or
800-362-2764 to speak directly to an O.U.P.S. Customer
Service Representative who will process your
request.

locate request is not valid until you receive an email
confirmation.
